No it aint a story.
A handsome man, a pretty gurl. Both go to work in town. Travel by train everyday. Every evening in the general compartment after 9, they both would be. Returning home. Meeting everyday. Having fun. Falling in love. Thinking of a future. Parents agree, friends are happy. Both make a perfect couple. They look so lovely together.
But then the man tells the gurl he cant marry her. Because his kidneys may fail. He is living on just one kidney. The other one is so weak, it might as well be not functioning.
The gurl is heartbroken. But decides to see through to till the end. They get married. Have a baby gurl. Some more years pass by. His kidneys fail. The gurl, a woman now does everything she can to save her man. Financial burden, selling house, taking a loan, loses her job in the process. Kidney replacement aint inexpensive. People tell her he can’t be helped. That she has a daughter to take care of now, and herself. But she goes ahead.
He lives.
Till last week.
My mom’s friend is a widow now. With a 10 year old daughter. Working as a temp.
Makes me wonder…
about love….

life is unfair! but then if not for love, it wudve still been unfair for the both of them if they cudnt have been together!
instead of dyin everyday, its good they lived, raised a kid till she was ten years old.
I bet he was happy to see that day. And Im sure they wud now move on and be stronger people. Considering that the girl and the boy were all heart, Im sure the girl, inheriting their genes would be happy too.
Life is beautiful, love makes it far more attractive.

ReplyDeleteI have a cousin bro who lives in Jaipur.. Now this guy was always a SUPERCool fella... dating the hottest chicks, being at the hottest parties etc... and was always really nice to me.. We've had some great times.. over.. well.. its been like 8 yrs now... He had a kidney failure. He had a fiance then.. and a lot of people told her to back out of the relationship, cause at that time he wasn't getting a kidney.. and his life wasn't exactly.. well.. certain. Well.. she stuck on... They've got a 5yr old daughter now, who I really love a lot,.. And they live a pretty normal life. Well... you see. thats why I wish I hadn't read this.. Also, my dad's had a kidney transplant 6 yrs ago..

Why focus on the pain and loneliness that she has now - why not focus on the love and companionship they shared when they were together - the strength that her conviction and love for him must have given him - the years of fond memories - the lessons they learnt together - the child they created together?
ReplyDeleteSure life sucks and love sucks even more - together they can suck everything out of you, but then what would we be without either of them? A life without love? Is that any life at all?
You simply have to take the risk and put your heart on the chopping board, if you don't wanna end up a desensitised, sanitised, lonely old individual. That's my take on it - don't lose hope so soon Elixir. We can't lose touch of our optimism so soon - ask your aunt. I'm sure she wouldn't want you to be so disillusioned...
El Diablo - She's right that all case don't have tragic endings. She may not have the conviction right now - but the way I see it, the day you lose hope is the day it all goes wrong.
I agree with manuscrypts.......we can read abt it write abt it......but only true expression of love comes with experiencing it.

I agree with Geetanjali here. Life's a bitch, and love can be one depending on how one looks at it. Its terribly sad that he had to go, but then he was fulfilled by and with love ! Life is certainly 'safe' without love, lol, but then life isn't life without love. And some are very unlucky, infact my current post is about that loss , a true account as well..check it out sometime..
